This past July 2011 I worked at Eagle Arts Academy on Vancouver Island. For one of the morning sessions, I gave a presentation about my experiences in the Great Bear Rainforest where I talked about the threats of the Enbridge Pipeline proposal and the youth paddle that I am organizing. It was great to see how receptive the campers were, and to have them engage in an action. They were all happy to put their energy into something creative that would also affect change on some level, and so everyone in the room filled out a Spirit Bear or a Humpback whale on which they described their connection to nature, and then expressed their opposition to the Enbridge Pipeline Project. These letters were then mailed to Stephen Harper and the Minister of Natural Resources Joe Oliver.
